"It does not matter how slow you go-so long as you do not stop."
Wisdom of Confucius
I
would like a place for creative output. Or perhaps the better term
would be to develop my creative output. Maybe this will be the place or
maybe I will find somewhere else to go.
This
is going to be a summer for direction. The theme for this month is
"Meditation-May" and I am going to focus on making time for meditation--
whether it be sitting cross-legged in the middle of a field, running in
my old neighborhood, or yoga at a local gym. In any case, I am going to
set aside that time specifically to meditate and use it to strengthen
my connection with God and reconnect to my motivations, aspirations, and
capabilities.
As
far as a major goes, it changes on about a daily basis. It used to be a
weekly basis. Things are getting worse. But hopefully May will solve
that. Today I want to be a poet. Despite the fact I've written
approximately two decent poems in my life and they were both in my
sophomore year of high school. I read an article on Steve Jobs'
challenge to create your own genius. He suggested to "go to Paris to
become a poet for a two years" or to "fall in love with two people at once"
for the lone purpose of having a different perspective and a unique
genius that no one else will have. The poet thing may just be that I
like the idea of going to Paris for two years. Or a graphic designer, I
have been fond of that idea for a while now. I think I would be good at
it.
Some friends are in Jerusalem. What a place for meditation. I am reading Jesus The Christ
and I would love more than anything to go exact places where Christ
walked. I went to Brigham Young's winter home in St. George Utah the
other day and the missionary who lead our tour kept stopping to say
"you're walking where a Prophet of God walked, you know?" I did feel
closer to God and to Brigham Young. At the end of the tour the sweet
missionary made sure to say that we all need to live up to our
potential; especially because the many wonderful giants before us have done
great work and have allowed us to stand on their shoulders. I don't
believe that it was by happenstance he said that. My eyes watered at
the realization. Once again I felt a feeling of responsibilities that
need to be fulfilled.
